is a Brussels based architecture agency that engages in effective projects, capturing the frictional relation between architecture and the many layers of reality. The agency has been founded by Vinh Linh, Thomas Mertens and Jochen Schamelhout in 2020.
Vinh Linh (Liège, 1990) graduated in architecture at the Faculty of architecture La Cambre Horta ULB in 2013 and at London Metropolitan University in 2014. He was a project leader at architecten de vylder vinck taillieu. From 2014 to 2021, he was teaching with Jo Taillieu at the EPF Lausanne and he is currently teaching at La Cambre Horta ULB. He is a founding member of Architecture Curating Practice.
Thomas Mertens (Neerpelt, 1988) graduated in architecture and civil-engineering at Ghent University and ENSA Paris La Villette in 2014. He was a project leader at OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen and he also holds a bachelor degree in economics from VUB.
Jochen Schamelhout (Kortrijk, 1990) graduated in architecture at KUL Faculty of architecture Sint-Lucas Brussels, La Cambre Horta ULB and FHNW Basel in 2016. He was a project leader at Gafpa and for the temporary association 6aadvvtAgwA for Kanal Pompidou. From 2017 to 2022, he was teaching with Jan De Vylder at the ETH Zurich and is currently teaching at KUL Faculty of architecture Sint Lucas Ghent. He was a founding member of Vormen and also holds a bachelor degree in psychology from VUB.
Benoît Roux (Clermont-Ferrand, 1998) graduated in architecture at ULB Faculty of architecture La Cambre Horta and Waseda University of Tokyo in 2021. He joined Elmēs in 2021.
Aurore Dulière (Brussels, 2001) currently studying at ULB Faculty of architecture La Cambre Horta. She joined Elmēs in 2024.
Gaëlle Batas (Pau, 2001) graduated in architecture at ENSA Bretagne and at La Sapienza University in 2024. She joined Elmēs in 2024.
